The Truth of Your Current Condition

It always blew my mind to walk into a community and see how people lived for generations. They lived with no access to clean water which meant certain results in their homes:

  • Poverty
  • Sickness
  • Lack of education
  • Women and children suffered the most

But I was no different inwardly.

The only difference was I was able to hide my sickness and spiritual poverty from my wife, my friends, my church. All the while pretending I had everything under control.

In this episode, we are going to discuss the desperate need of men who are willing tell the truth. Men who are willing to face the facts of their situation.

Pilate asked Jesus a very powerful question, "What is truth?"

This is a questions worth exploring because if we're not dealing with the truth of our current condition, it's a clear indication we're lying to ourselves.

The passage we'll look at is found in Psalm 139.

Psalms 139:7-12
7 Where shall I go from your Spirit?
Or where shall I flee from your presence?
8 If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!
9 If I take the wings of the morning
and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
10 even there your hand shall lead me,
and your right hand shall hold me.
11 If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me,
and the light about me be night,”
12 even the darkness is not dark to you;
the night is bright as the day,
for darkness is as light with you.

Psalms 139:23-24
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts!
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting!
